lyrics

I met a girl, she lived next door,
She told me her name but I hope she’d said more,
At the time I thought I’d heard it all.

I took her home and went for some tea,
She told me she had all the afternoon free,
We had time enough to drink it all.

“I know the colour in you”, this is what she said,
so I painted my face in blue as she brushed her hair.

I took her hand at (the) time we stood up,
She took her shoes off as we were dancing the Waltz
And the ground fell off beyond our feet.

I told her to stay at home and watch the film,
She told me that it was late and went home to sleep.

So I stood at home, went to bed alone,
Dreams of a waltz in Technicolor,
Since that night I haven’t seen her no more.
